COMMERCIAL INSURANCE

When it comes to choosing insurance, most business owners want to know what insurance they need and how much it will cost. As we’ve already discussed, one of the biggest factors in determining what insurance coverage is needed depends on the business type.

MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE

How should I insure my motorcycle?

We always recommend that you insure your motorcycle with the exact same coverage that we recommend on your auto policy. 250/500 in liability, $100,000 in property damage, $5,000 in medical payment, 250/500 in uninsured motorist coverage and of course comprehensive and collision deductibles based on your needs. The state of Colorado says that your medical and uninsured motorist coverage technically extends from your underlying auto policy to your motorcycle policy and this is true. What most agents will neglect to tell you though, is this coverage does not extend to any passengers that could ride on your motorcycle which is a very scary thought. That is why we always recommend our clients carry these important coverages on their motorcycle policy.

HOME INSURANCE

Does the value of your home dictate dwelling coverage?

It plays a factor, but is not the determining one. Your dwelling coverage is mostly dictated on a price per square foot guideline based on the above ground square footage of your home. That could range from $120/sq. ft. if your home is fairly basic in finish to $250/sq. ft. and up if your home is very customized. Something to keep in mind is dwelling coverage does not include your land value because that does not play a factor in having to rebuild your home in the event of a loss. This is where value of your home and dwelling coverage could greatly differ.

MOTORHOME INSURANCE

How should I insure my motorhome?

Your motorhome is going to be insured much like your primary auto, but most of the time this needs to be on its own policy. Carriers will offer some unique coverages for motorhome owners such as vacation liability. This essentially covers you and your family from any liability that could happen while the motorhome is parked and you are vacationing. Your Colorado Insurance agent can explain these special coverages in more detail and find the carrier that suits your needs.

CONDO INSURANCE

Does the value of your home dictate dwelling coverage?

It plays a factor, but is not the determining one. Your dwelling coverage is mostly dictated on a price per square foot guideline based on the above ground square footage of your home. That could range from $120/sq. ft. if your home is fairly basic in finish to $250/sq. ft. and up if your home is very customized. Something to keep in mind is dwelling coverage does not include your land value because that does not play a factor in having to rebuild your home in the event of a loss. This is where value of your home and dwelling coverage could greatly differ.

RENTER INSURANCE

Does the value of your home dictate dwelling coverage?

It plays a factor, but is not the determining one. Your dwelling coverage is mostly dictated on a price per square foot guideline based on the above ground square footage of your home. That could range from $120/sq. ft. if your home is fairly basic in finish to $250/sq. ft. and up if your home is very customized. Something to keep in mind is dwelling coverage does not include your land value because that does not play a factor in having to rebuild your home in the event of a loss.

BOAT INSURANCE

How should I insure my boat?

Regardless if you belong to a private lake/reservoir that requires you to carry a certain amount of boat liability, you should always max out your boat liability to the available limit which is usually $500,000. Furthermore, you should always set your uninsured boater limit to match that at $500,000. Insuring your boat’s trailer with the correct stated value is also a necessity on your boat policy. Then of course you have your available comprehensive and collision deductibles which can be set at your specific needs.

UMBRELLA INSURANCE

Extra protection where you need it

When you need the comfort of extra protection we are happy to step in and offer umbrella policy protection. We work with many companies that are able to add at minimum an additional million dollars’ worth of liability coverage above and beyond your existing policy limits. This typically low cost coverage comes at a rate of a couple hundred dollars or less a year and offers a priceless peace of mind. Going the distance to protect you, your family and your assets our agency is happy to discuss your options.
